Small business challenges during a strained economy
Share
Hello friends! I'd like to take some time to commend you for taking the time to read this blog post! As many of you know, Double Dipp'd has been here through a lot of difficult times. When we began this small business in 2018 we faced challenges of competing with other bigger small businesses to be the "newbie". Then Covid hit and while many businesses had to close down for a while, we stayed open and weathered the storm, finding so many new customers just waiting to dip for the first time! Many of you stayed, but so many more either went back to the salon or found places to purchase their dip supplies from. This left us gutted and sad. But, we kept going.
Here we are many years post Covid facing many new challenges. A crippling economy plus many large entities such as Amazon and other big nail corporations as competitors. For small businesses, such as ours, it is a day to day struggle to be seen by the majority of people who DIY their nails at home. Navigating through higher prices and shipping obstacles, it is super difficult to make headway. When all you see on social media these days are ads from large dip companies, it's so disheartening. I feel like the American Dream is fading.
Ads are super expensive to run. It's not even in my budget to keep paying for ads larger than one here and there running on Facebook at $3.00 per day and let's face it, does anyone even see those?
You may have noticed that I have been trying my best to be seen by posting reels every day. I am under the belief that if even one new person sees that reel and is interested, then I have won that day. The challenge is that if the reel or post or photo that I post isn't noticed and engaged with, it doesn't even help. Engagement always is key.
This is where you, my wonderful customers come in. I understand that times are tough now and have been for a while. I see it. I feel it. But, these large companies are still here paying for ads and making serious money. I did not start this business to fail. I am doing what it takes to succeed. But, I cannot do this alone.
